south coast | surfing saturday

it might have been a horrid windy, rainy, cold friday - saturday night.
but the morning brought some good surf to the beach on my doorstep, the rain stopped and the sun even came out for a while. I live directly above this beach sometimes I get to realise just how lucky I am to live in the place I do.

the surf directory >>

with so many new web sites every day (especially surfing sites) many do not last. or to be honest aren't very good. in the last month or so a new site the surf directory has gone live. I never see a new surf web site as a threat to my surf site (of 10 years already) surf98 in fact it simply increases the flow of web traffic to all of us. any way if you are so inclined have a look, I think it is a really good interactive site with loads of information as well as the usual surf reports and beach info.

surfing again >> contests

not that long ago I was on the very beaches that are now the centre for the worlds finest surfers competing in the world pro tour.
it is easy to forget now back in cornwall where we have a bit of swell due this weekend and a few of our own contests that the best competition surfers in the world are not that far away in France. have a look at the quicksilver web site if you visit the site in the day time you might even get to watch some of the last stages.

driving >> good things

it seems that since getting back from france I have spent just as much time driving about on different errands and family visits as well as crossing from coast to coast to get to the beaches. one of the many good things about cornwall is that even in the middle of the busiest week as far as holiday visitors there is still space.
when you have views like this one an area of bodmin moor (for a change it is not a picture of the sea) it is no time to complain about anything.
