skateboarding again >>

if you have read this blog before you will know that I have a particular interest in skateboarding and have ridden skateboards from the very early days. I have owned more than a few skateboards and still have one sitting next to me as a write.

so today was pleased to see some pictures that were emailed to luca (nearly 17) my eldest son showing gabes (14) my second eldest getting some air while street skating see below.

I have never been that good at freestyle skating preferring to skate ramps & half pipes, but I have to say street skating has always been harder (for me) anyway. perhaps it is because I like the smoothness of surfing and the crossover from surfing to riding a half pipe even a bowl is closer all the same I am impressed gabes hope you landed it!

independent >> skate stuff

I was in the city today and with a very small amount of time decided to quickly check a shop that very occasionally has clothes that I really like.
I was looking for work/smart trousers which I was pleased and lucky to find, but more than that I found a t-shirt. not much I know but it was an 'independent' t-shirt from the santa cruz, based company. I had to buy it as it brought back many happy days skateboarding I even spoke to gabes (my son) on the phone and told him about it. he skates all day every day if he can and he was excited about it too!

maybe it is a bit sad to like stuff like this but the way company's like independent, vans & bones have marketed their product to a world wide often difficult audience over the last 20-25 years plus I think has been fantastic. after all they are selling what is for many people just a toy, and merchandise around it!!

>> go skateboarding day 2007

tomorrow (thursday 21.06.07) is go-skateboarding-day-2007 and all across the world skaters of all types and ages will be going skating. I am no longer part of the brighton skate scene as I moved to cornwall years ago my son gabes is. I am sure that during the day he will be going skateboarding.

as part of the event the vans skateboard team will be at the west pier brighton around 2pm. now the reason I am interested in the vans team is that they have some old school skaters as well as contemporary skaters, I will always consider myself old school, I first went skating in the 70's and that was in brighton then later london. since moving to cornwall the skate possibilities stopped as the old school skateboard parks became derelict, and generally we have less tarmac, and concrete down here, so the beach becomes the way to go and surfing the real deal.
however more recently some repairs and rebuilding has happened and I now have some good skate parks close by, and good friend and surf98 colleague moby is the man for them (check his surf pictures on the surf98 site).
anyway to add to the skateboard day I thought this video made in brighton might be worth a look.

another skateboard video >> but with a difference

yes I know it is only two days ago that I was saying how lazy I had been posting two videos in a row but I had to put this one up.
it must have taken ages to make and not only that but finger skate boards I have found are harder to master than the full size ones, as anyone who has read this blog for a while or who knows me I have skated as well as surfed for more than 30 years!
my friend micky from france, probably saw this ages ago as it was made by alexis milant another cool french guy and has been doing the rounds I think on french blogs. any way give it a chance if you like it let me know.

as I have been thinking about france and I have to say I really like the stubbornness of the french, especially in design not to pander to the english/americian mould of web use-ability instead as with so much they create their own.
two more french more sites to check
exalead-blog.com french language based search engine/fact finder
webtux.info a free web creation site but a bit better?
