things have been a bit of a struggle this week and I am really hoping that stuff gets clearer (and more fun) in the week/weeks to come.

summer?
I remember writing something similiar last august, as the weather becomes even more wet and cold in cornwall. we/I have such a short memory so I thought I would post a couple ofpicture taken just last week in between the rain showers we seem to have every day each august. certainly over the last three years down here.

a rare putt, while in the city computer shopping
the weather was cold but very sunny & bright this past weekend.
tempted in to the city (carol successfully got the new laptop she wanted). we parked up at the hoe, close enough to walk into the shopping areas, but also a nice place to enjoy the size of the sky.
I love sunshine and the light especially when the sun is low in the sky, perhaps too much as my eyes are suffering from being in the sun a bit too much over the years as (well as age).
while we were walking back to the car we noticed I new addition as far as I am aware to the greenness of the hoe a putting green. I am a great golf fan but I like playing at it , (well pitch and putt). so we decided to have a go 18 greens later the sun was going down and the freshly made coffee was calling from the cafe, a really enjoyable time hour or so.

rugby world cup >> france
the rugby world cup starts tonight so I had to mention it. I have always liked rugby, my 9 year old plays for the local team down here, (properly because I am to old, too slow, too fat, and too injured to play any more) but he seems to like it, so I will continue to encourage him as long as he enjoys it.
with so many global events having a marketing and promotion strategy that leaves some of my students asking me why is so bad (london 2012 & the osaka world athletics, for example). at least I can say that I really genuinely like the logo.
shame I cant say the same about the england shirt it reminds me of the crystal place football shirt from the early 70's. but on current form and I hope I am wrong we won't be seeing england progressing to far.
the organising committee logo is another good one, I even like the style of the map of all the stadiums being used. taken from the official web site. there must be something wrong I am normally more grumpy than this!

I will be watching the opening tonight in the hope that argentina do well against france, (though I secretly would like france to win the whole thing!)

independent >> skate stuff
I was in the city today and with a very small amount of time decided to quickly check a shop that very occasionally has clothes that I really like.I was looking for work/smart trousers which I was pleased and lucky to find, but more than that I found a t-shirt. not much I know but it was an 'independent' t-shirt from the santa cruz, based company. I had to buy it as it brought back many happy days skateboarding I even spoke to gabes (my son) on the phone and told him about it. he skates all day every day if he can and he was excited about it too!
maybe it is a bit sad to like stuff like this but the way company's like independent, vans & bones have marketed their product to a world wide often difficult audience over the last 20-25 years plus I think has been fantastic. after all they are selling what is for many people just a toy, and merchandise around it!!

safely back >> I have to go away to realise how lucky I am?
we had a great few weeks in france, driving more than 2000 miles. we went chasing the surf and found some good waves south of biarritz, as well as thunderstorms and unusual conditions for the time of year. as the french coast, like the californian coast is experiencing some strange weather conditions. california suffering the coldest summer on record and south west france not fairing much better as well as having some strange tidal conditions, said to be caused by climate change probably because people like me are driving 2000 miles just to go surfing!! at least it is better than flying to bali as far as carbon footprint.

I thought I would put this picture in taken yesterday after surfing very near where we live in cornwall & wonder why we travel so far looking for something that is on our door step. all that said I would move to the basque area of france if I had the chance!

more >> busy stuff
yes you guess it another very busy day but time enough have picked this rose from my garden, it a a special type (not sure the name I will tell you tomorrow). my mum gave it to me last year. I am afraid that is all I have to say for my self. if I get a chance I will post a proper blog tomorrow afternoon, the dust might have settled by then, but the way things are going I can't be sure.
