beach memories

I spent yesterday afternoon on the beach with my sister her partner, her son (11) and my youngest son (11). it is strange isn't it when you are in a place that is very familiar and yet new. the beach in question was a place we visited a lot when we were children in the 1970's. I now live about 7 minutes walk away. we have had family in the area for many, many years.

For all sorts of reasons the place made a huge impact on me when I was a child (around age 11).
I made it my home (permanently about 15 years ago) after time in sussex (brighton), hampshire, france, london. my sister still lives in the area we went to school, sussex. I have the feeling that she will also move down sometime in the future.

it was a lovely day the sun was warm sitting on the beach brought back many memories of days past. our children were happy to play on the beach together mixing the new (to them) with the familiar (to us).

play misty for me >> so cool

I first saw this film in when I lived in cornwall in the 1970's. I moved around back up to sussex, hampshire and london but the film always seemed to follow me around!
it is not classic, but it truly is one of my favourite films ever. now living back in cornwall for the last 10+ years I found myself watching it tonight on TV on ITV4, it's such a cool film. play misty for me.

cars >> fuel etc.

I went to a kind of summer carnival thing over the weekend luckily the weather was ok. what I didn't know was there was a small car show as well. I spent ages boring my 9 year old showing him the cars that I wanted when I was a child they had even a ford escort mexico there, I really thought they were cool in the 70's. I remember the ford zodiac, and just had to get a picture.

there was also a kind of gathering of smart cars, the first thing my son did when we saw them all was laugh! I know it is not green or right, and as the owner of a 4x4 I am not really doing my bit as far as green transport but still it gave me something to think about.
